Thanks for that. Any details of who she was boarding with? Her husband-to-be and various family members were living in Union Street at the time.
Don't suppose you can find her in 1861 as well
Bye, Ian

Hi Ian The full details for 1871 are as follows Martha Vipond Head Unm 68 Annuitant b Kendal Sarah Jane Harris Boarder Unm 23 Straw Bonnet Maker b Liverpool Elizabeth Neil Boarder Unm 25 Milliner b Newport, Bucks Looks like it was a boarding house for unmarried working females.
Actually I did have a look on the 1861 and was a little mystified, so looked at the 1851 as well and I'm even more stumped. If you give me a moment I'll retrace and get the details for you Anne

Okay Ian Here goes on the 1861 the only likely candidate is: RG9 Piece 1013 Folio 117 Page 32 4 Ebenezer Street, Luton, Beds NEALE Anne head Unm 56 Bonnet Sewer b Hanslope, Bucks Elizabeth Sister Unm 53 Bonnet Sewer b Hanslope, Bucks ELIZABETH Neice Unm 18 Bonnet Sewer b Newport Pagnell, Bucks
This seemed a long way from Newport Pagnell, so I went back to the 1851 On the 1851 the only Elizabeth Neale I can find is aged 8 and an inmate in the Newport Pagnell Workhouse, she was born in Hanslope, Bucks. So I then returned to the Ann and Elizabeth snr from the 1861 and found them at Ebenezer Street, Luton, Beds on the 1851 without the neice Elizabeth. On the 1871 it says that Elizabeth is a milliner, so that ties in with the bonnet sewer. Its seems that it has to be them, but is it...........? What do you think? Anne

Anne,
Looks good to me. Hanslope is very close to Newport Pagnell so the locations tie in. I knew Elizabeth's mother was Elizabeth and looks like the husband was dead by 1851 in Elizabeth snr is with her sister.
Thanks for the detective work, Ian
