That Tree in Buxton

Can any one tell me the orgin of the tree with the shoes attached. It is on the road to the Buxton Cemetery.

Many thanks for the link, very interesting. It would be interesting to find out if there are any other "Shoe Trees" in this country.

Wheeldon I have no idea what the road is called in Buxton. The tree is about a 200 yards from the cemetery. It's up the hill on the left heading toward the cemetery.
