Bluff 1872/73 « on: Monday 05 February 07 21:00 GMT (UK) »
The Zealandia arrived in Bluff very late December 1872, unloaded some passengers and then went on to Dunedin early January '73.
My problem is the passenger list for this sailing of Zealandia only gives those who disembarked in Dunedin and the newspaper of the time seems to give only very general information without names. I am hoping someone may know somewhere in Bluff or Invercargill that we might find a list of those who got off in Bluff?
I would love to be able to confirm my g.g.grandfather's arrival and help would be very greatly appreciated.
Hoping, Abby

There is a museum at Bluff but I don't think it offers research services.
If you could tell us the name of your ancestors on the voyage I will look in Archives Wellington for a passenger manifest in a couple of weeks.

Thank you so much Riley for your reply and your generous offer of help.
I think Richard William Jones, arrived on this sailing of the Zealandia and got off in Bluff. (Family say he 'arrived at Bluff on Zealandia in 1872' and this is really the only chance for this to have happened). It seems to fit, but it would be really nice to actually 'know' it.
I have just had a look at the great link you provided and will investigate that further, but because he lived in Invercargill until about 1900, (before moving to Hawke's Bay), I'm not sure that the Otago Settlers Museum will have much about him.
Being a Jones this might me tricky, so don't feel obliged to spend a lot of time on it. I am blown away by how kind people are on this site and thank you again.
