The way I started as my nan's dob was after the 1901 census was by tracing her birth registration on Free BMD http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

Then I sent off for her birth certificate to find out her parent's names and went from there.

If the information you have is from 1903 though and you think your grandpa's circumstances were the same in 1901 you may be OK starting by looking him up on the 1901 census. I use Ancestry http://ancestry.co.uk/

Or you could post some more information e.g. your Grandpa's name and his partner's name, year of birth, area they lived in etc and someone may help.

Welcome to Rootschat.

Have you spoken to your parents or any older relatives to find out what information they have about your Grandpa. Make a note of all the information they give you as it may come in useful at some point.

If you use the Ancestry link as mentioned by Lemmey, scrolldown to where the census details are listed and you can also search for births, marriages & deaths as well.

As has been said, if you want any help from the people here, just post the information you have and there will be plenty of people willing to help.
