Anything pre 1851. Geoff of Devon kindly gave me Johns wife and sons from 1851. What I now would like to find if possible is Johns Mother and Father & any siblings he may have had.

Hi: I looked at the years 1800-1804 for a BECKEY birth in Ardleigh but no joy (ref D/P 263/1/5. The images were pretty poor and the search was made more difficult by the way the baptisms were entered -e.g. 1801 April 12 John son of Elizabeth Frostick and Henry Oxley. Because the images were so poor I tracked all the baptisms for any John and looked to see if they were BECKEY but sadly there were none that I could see. I did try to see if the name BECKEY appeared at all in the baptisms but couldn't find any. I found a relatively recent transcript (not a Bishop's transcript) and couldn't find any there either.
The name BECKEY/BECKIE/BECKY does appear in Ardleigh though at times.

1826 May 4 BECKEY Thomas m DIMMOCK Elizabeth (signs DIMOCK)
I also looked in Boyd's marriage register (1776-1837) but found no BECKEYs etc.
Essex Burial Register (ref T/R 269/1/4 1813-1865 (all pages searched.
1816 March 8 BECKEY Joseph 86
1820 Jun 27 BECKEY Thos 76
1830 Dec 23 BECKY Priscilla 88.
The news is not all bad. Look at the Witham 1851 census thread
