Hi - I'm looking for any info relating to Joshua Farish and family. Parents believed to be John & Elizabeth. Joshua was born abt 1843 in Brampton. Brothers & sisters probably included Fleming abt 1839, Joseph abt 1841, Thomas abt 1842, Jacob abt 1847, Abraham abt 1850 and James abt 1852.
John Farish (father) was discribed as a coal miner (deceased) on Joshua's marriage certificate Aug 25 1869.
Unfortunately I can't get to Brampton area to "browse" the records there so I am now stuck!!! Does anyone have access to transcipts of Brampton parish records or know if they are available online to help me trace John & Elizabeth?

Don't know if you have this info, as you don't say if you have any info already, so just in case her is some bits.

Parents John and Elizabeth Farish

1881 census
Fleming Farish is age 43 born Brampton and is unmarried, his occupation is a coal miner, and he is a boarder with a family called Landereth at 25. Barrass Row, Seghill, Northumberland.

Joshua Farish Age 37 b. Brampton Coal Miner
Catherine Farish Age 23 b. Lumley, Durham Wife
Elizabeth Farish Age 11 b. Auckland S. Church, Durham
Daughter
they are living at 41. Angus Street, Brandon & Byshottle, Durham.
Don't know whether Joshuah was married before, or whether age of Catherine is wrong (LDS Site) as it means Catherine was 13 when she had Elizabeth.

Hi Catherine,
Thank you for the info. I should have explained more about what information that I had!! I try not to waffle incase people get bored half way through and miss the crucial bits......unfortunately I rarely get the balance right!! 
The 1881 census info relating to Catherine and her age is about right, Catherine is Joshua's second wife and not Elizabeth's mother....we've got enough born without fathers in the family without them having children at 13 too!!

Hi Mary,
I've had a look through my Farish family and (as yet!) have not got a Mary born abt 1835, sorry!
My oldest Farish is John born abt 1800 in Scotland, he married an Elizabeth from Wigton.
Their children were born in Cumrew, Carlatton & Farlam in Cumberland, but to the best of my knowledge none called Mary.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for the info re Farish in the parish records.
I haven't come across any Fariths but have have had a couple spelt Farrish and Fairish!
Get's too confusing

Thank you for the 1841 info. I'm a bit stuck now on my Farish line as John Farish says he was born in Scotland......um..Scotland's quite a size so it might take some time to find
Still, I guess that's half the fun!!

Try asking for 1851 & '61 census look ups, as you will get more information on them. Hopefully including place of birth for john;D
