Would this be your James? if so William Charles Trott married Elizabeth Coole in 1866. Elizabeth was the sister to my GGreatGrandfather John Coole.

Sorry after futher investigations your James Henry was born in 1850, while my James who was born in 1848 was unmarried on the 1881 census and in the Navy.
May be a connection futher back, one never knows.

There are many Trott families from the Bristol area, they appear to have come sometime from Somerset.
Mine are:

William Charles Trott (1841-1877) Bristol, have birth certificate, m 1866 Elizabeth Coole (1844-1903) have marriage certificate.
Elizabeth Trott b 1844 Hatch, Somerset
Charlotte Edye Trott b 1845 Somerset, m John V Parminter in 1868
James Trott b 1848, Bristol, Navy, m Mary Ann Farmer b 1858, Honiton, Devon, they had 4 children.. James TROTT, b.1886 (b.1886)
William TROTT b.1890
Charlotte TROTT b.1893
Dorothy M TROTT b 1896
John A TROTT b.1898, all born in Bristol
Jane Trott b 1848, Bristol.
George Henry Trott b 1852, Bristol, m Lucy Farmer, b 1855 in Cotleigh. They had 2 children..George Trott 1889, Bristol and Violet Trott b 1898 Bristol.
Rhoda Trott b 1855, Bristol, still single on the 1901 census living in Western-super Mare,
Again like yourself obtained this knowledge from BMDs and census and contacts from this board, and slowly building up certificates when I can afford it.
Reference to James might be worth me getting a marriage certificate for him to see if he married Emma or Mary Ann?

What I meant to say there is a Trott society, I was in contact with a member at one time, again he had alot of Trotts in his family but could not find a connection. Might be worth going into google and clicking in Trott society.
