Any info on  Charles Young.  I think he came from Bath, but I'm not sure.  I know he was born somewhere between late 1872 -1873 and that he died in Salford on 16 November 1937.He had children with Emily Wheeler, who, I believe came from Lydiard Millicent born around 1863 or thereabouts.  There were about 9 children in all, my father(Sidney Young) dob 29/07/1909 was one of twins born to Charles and Emily, address when my dad was born was 38 Avon Street, Walcot, Bath.  My dad was the youngest child, I believe.  I don't know if all the children were Charles and Emily's or if Emily had children before she met my grandfather.  Charles Young came north to  Salford in the 1920s, with two of my father's siblings(Joanna and Ellen- possibly Helen).  I don't understand why only 3 children came with him if there were 9 children in all unless the others were a lot older, or Emily and Charles had separated.  I don't know if Charles and Emily co-habited or were married.  I have now found my grandfather(Charles Young) is buried at Agecroft Cemetery Salford, but we still cannot ascertain where he was born or find any information of a marriage between him and Emily Wheeler, but have recently been informed that the siblings who stayed behind when Charles came north were named Wheeler.  Help!
Kind regards

Mary Young

Hi Mary

Just had a look on the 1891 census on line for your Young ancestors with the following results

There are 1022 people called Charles Young, of which only 3 were born in Bath – aged 13, 21, 30 , but being as they were all sons – it kind of rules them out.

There are 637 females called Emily Young but not one of them has any association with Lydiard Millicent.(what county is it in)

Emily Young aged 28 produced 12 matches – 7 of which were married - but none to a Charles

Emily Wheeler produced 7 matches, but nothing that looked feasable

Any chance you can narrow the field down a bit more - any extra info.??

Hi Chris.  Thanks for the reply.  Sorry, I think I've confused you a bit with the details.  It was my late father who, I believe was the only son of Emily and Charles, but my late aunt Joanna told me there were 9 children in all, but not much else.  She said there were 8 sisters and 1 brother(my father).  I think my father's twin was called Dorothy, she died in early childhood.  I don't know anything at all about Charles's history apart from the fact that on my father's birth certificate both Charles Young and Emily Young are named as parents, with Emily being named as Emily Young formerly Wheeler and the address my father was born at was 38 Avon Street, Walcot, Bath, Somerset.  On my parents' marriage certificate it shows Charles as deceased, my parents married on Sep 11, 1939, so I have no idea when Charles died, or Emily either for that matter or where thy were in between these times.  We do have a list of one family who lived at The Butts Parkside Farm with an Emily Wheeler in it who would seem to fit the age description,  in Lydiard Millicent 1871 census for Wiltsire.  The head of that family was William Wheeler wih his wife Mary and they had quite a big family, some names of which are repeated in my own siblings.  I think this was the 1871 census.  I'm not even sure if Emily and Charles married or just co-habited and Emily took his name as his common-law wife.  I don't really get the impression that that would have gone down well with their parents tho, as my aunt Joan gave the impression that the family were quite keen church of England people.  We know very little really and I don't really know how to go about finding info.  Thanks for taking an interest and the time and trouble to look things up.  It is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards
