Charles Halford age 6 is shown living at Gibraltar nr Blakeney Hill  ED5a  East Dean.  I would like to find some information and perhaps locate this on an old or even a current map.  Am I right in assuming this may have been cottages near a mine called Gibraltar?
My interest in family history is now becoming a history of the area

Not much I am afraid, but if you type the phrase “Blakeney Hill Gibralter” into Google it throws up some references which take you to the Forest of Dean Family History site and there is an old map reference which shows where it was and provides some background information.

Hope that helps a bit.
