Finmere and surrounding parishes
« on: Saturday 17 February 07 17:43 UTC (UK) »

Hi guys

Does anyone have any ancestors by the name of Hunt, Davis or Wilson in any of the parishes near to Finmere? The reason I ask is that a visit to Oxfordshire Archives earlier today leads me to believe that my luck is now beginning to run out! I have located a record for what I think is the baptism of my g-g-grandfather, William Hunt, in Finmere on 18 June 1826, to parents named William and Diana, but have been unable to locate any earlier records relating to the latter two. Similarly, I have the record of the marriage of the grandparents of the future wife of the younger William, namely William Davis and Elizabeth Wilson on 22 December 1782, but again have been unable to unearth any earlier events relating to these two. It occurs to me that any or all of the above may have arrived in Finmere from surrounding parishes, but apart from knowing that one of these lies in the adjacent county of Buckinghamshire (Tingewick, I think), I am at a loss to know where to proceed from here.

Can anyone help?

Mike
