Can anyone tell me the whereabouts of Bryants Puddle or Bryans Piddle. Which is the correct name, I'm very confused.

Briantspuddle is just to the East of Puddletown near Dorchester, see the map.

The 'correct' name is Briant's Piddle as it is on the River Piddle - hence Piddletrenthide and Piddlehinton. However, Victorian sensibilities resulted in most of the villages in the Piddle valley being renamed 'puddle', so we now have Puddletown, Affpuddle and Briantspuddle. However, pre-Victorian references may well have the 'piddle' bit in the name.

Thanks for the info. Now I need to find the baptism of a Tabitha Wellstead from this parish born 1811.
