I posted this a couple of years ago without much luck so I thought I'd give it another go. On the 1891 census Victor Gamble is a 3 year old visitor with the Bugg family at 25 Albert Rd St Peter, Essex. William Bugg. 53. Julia. 50. Julia. 19. Eva. 12. Victor Gamble. 3 Ceddie Walcot. 1. Visitor. Missing is my g grand mother Ellen Eliza Bugg who would be about 15.
In 1895 Ellen married William Maurice Clark and on the 1901 census is living at 27 Regent St, Whitstable, Kent. Ellen Clark. 25 William. 3. Alvin.1.(my grandfather) Victor Gamble. 13. Cousin. Husband William is in South Africa with 20 th Hussars.
Any info please on Victor Gamble how was he related?
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Could he be the Victor Felix Gamble whose birth is registered:
Mar 1887 Prescot 8b 674.
Is his birthplace shown on either census?

If Victor is actually Ellens cousin, then one of his parents must have been a sibling of one of Ellen's parents.
Hence we have quite a number of possible scenarios:
1) Victors Mum was a sister of Ellens Mum (Julia) - Julia married Mr Bugg, and her sis married Mr Gamble
2) Victors dad was a brother of Ellens Mum - i.e Julia was a Gamble before she married Mr Bugg (do you know her maiden name?)
3) Victors mum was a sister of Ellens Dad - therefore Victors Mum was nee Bugg and married a Gamble
think I've got my mind round it ... it has been a long day!

Thanks everyone, I've got William and Julia for sure 91, 81, 71 I think it's them on the 61 William 23. Julia 22. Nothing for William on the 51. On the 41 I have a William age 3 with his family Father William 40. Mother Ann, 35. Siblings Emma 15. Henry 11. Ann 8. Lydia 6. William. Walter 1. All born Fordham on all census. On free bmd I found marriages for an Emma, Ann and Lydia Bugg all in Lexden but none of them married a Gamble. It might help if some kind sole could find them on the 51 census.
On the 91 census Victors birthplace is Hockesley, Essex. On the 1901 It's Essex. So I think that rules the Prescot one out.(thanks)
Interesting thought oonagh. Do you mean Julia mum or daughter? Not sure about Victor Bugg Thingoe, can't say he rings any bells at the moment.
Paul.

I think Hockesly could be Horkesley as Horkesley Heath ,Great Horkesley and Little Horkesley are all well within walking distance.
