Can anyone tell me.
If a person born in Prussia married a person born in Ireland but living in Liverpool would have to apply to Home Office for British Naturalisation ?? in year 1845.
My rellie was Francis Schamburg. ( is this a german or Russian surname) I believe Prussia became ? Germany?

National archives at Kew have naturalisation papers. I think they have a surname list, but you have to go in person, or employ researcher unless you have full details, and then you should be able to order printouts online.I hope to check naturalisation records for my ancestor who came from Prussia in 1850's. and married a Belgian girl in London.There is an online catalogue you can print out which tells you the details of the records etc that you will need to search and all details of how to search, opening times of Records office recommended researchers etc.etc.
Give their website a try. If he did become a British citizen it should be in there.

Thanks Chickadee. Noticed you are interested in surname ?? Tyer My husbands grandfather Harry Smith was married to Ellen Tyer in 1881 they lived in 7 Carson Street Everton ? Any connection??

This question keeps popping up, so to save repeating myself, I have just put an answer to your original posting on the Immigrants board in http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=21849.0
How certain are you of SCHAMBURG ? My feeling is that his name would have been SCHAUMBURG or SCHAUMBERG.
It could be german, but also from anywhere in the Austro-Hungarian empire, which included parts of (present-day) Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republik, etc, etc.
If you have any more details, why not post anything you know as a request on the Immigrants board, where more "foreign" researchers will see it.
Any results with Kew ?? Good luck !

My ancestors name was spelled Schamburg in 1851 census when he was living in Liverpool. Later on his ancestors were spelled Schaumburg and Schonberg.
