I am wondering if anyone going to PROV would be kind enough to look at fiche for the unassisted immigrants 1857.
I emailed PROV and asked for locations of the fiche in Victoria - they emailed back and said 'not available in your area' Of course they are not available in my area but it would have been helpful if they had listed the locations the fiche are available I am 200 kms from a library - a mobile library visits a location 20kms for our property and stops for one hour, including setting up and packing up ... and no fiche reader. Sooo...... Here are the details of my OH's gg grandfather and his family or at least I hope it is his gg grandfather's family
Arriving Sep 1857 on the Commodore Perry
G H Kelly 49, Wife 40, Wm 15, Thos 13, Ellen 11, Edwd 9, Harriet 7, Ann 4, John 3, Inf 1.
All entries Port B, Fiche 131, Page 010
I really need any other info listed as it was family lore that the family had arrived in South Australia via Adelaide.
Hopefully sks can help.
Cheers cando

Hi cando
Don't know where you are in Victoria, but the State Library has copies of the Fiche. So do various Genealogical & local History Societies. Which part of Victoria are you in?
Meantime, I will check them out for you when I go next.
Cheers
Genni

Hi Genni
Just wondering if your trip to PROV is on the horizon
No luck with any genealogy groups within 200kms - no-one has the fiche just the CD - same as the website.
Cheers for now Cando

Hi Cando
I have had family that came to Brisbane and Sydney who are listed on the Vic Unassisted list. If their ship passed through Melbourne, I gather that they were recorded on the lists. One family group on Cuthberts Feb 1852, I know definitely were on their way to Brisbane as they were joining other family members (births being recorded shortly thereafter )
So it is possible that your folks did settle in SA, arriving via Victoria

Hi Trish
Thank you for your response. Yes they settled in SA.
I really need to have the info from the fiche - occupation and nationality if it is available. I sense some family doubters.
I am sure this is my OH's gg grandfather and his family - names and age spacings correct. There are two chn not named in the family info but I have already found the marriage of one in SA with the correctly named father.
This family are not named in any SA shipping records.
Cheers cando

Hi Genni
Thank you so much. I am positive it is Henry George KELLY with wife Ann and children from Ireland on their way to South Australia. Names of chn and age spacing are spot on.
Interesting that Wm and Thomas [family didn't know about him] are listed at mechanics. Wm [my OH's great grandfather] became a very successful and innovative farmer.
Genni I noticed on a number of shipping records that the Commodore Perry sailed from Liverpool.
Thank you for your time and kindness in doing this lookup.
Cheers Cando
