Rockliff marriage
« on: Wednesday 28 February 07 14:40 GMT (UK) »

In 1861, a Susan Rockliff was living in Preston with her two daughters, Elizabeth and Agnes. Could someone find a possible marriage for her, please? She was born in Winwick c1826 and her first child was born c1850, so the marriage is probably in the late 1840's. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi

In 1851 there is a Susannah Rockliffe born 1826 married to a John Rockliffe with a daughter called Agnes aged 11 months at HO107/2267 Folio 645 Page 16.

Might be the same lady ?

She probably is, as there is a Susannah Brown in Preston who died before the 1871 Census, meaning that my 4x great grandfather was widowed by that time. They had a few children, one being my 3x great grandmother, Susannah Brown.

Apparently, if someone is remarrying, Lancs BMD show their maiden name (if female). Susan was originally a Shaw.

1845 Liverpool OND quarter 20 325

On FreeBMD Susannah does not appear but she is in the full GRO index with the above reference. John does appear on the FreeBMD entry.

I hope that helps.

Hello again Stephen

Susannah does appear on FreeBMD in that quarter but she is referenced as 20 525 (It is definitely 325 in the full index).

I have finished now  Grin
