Hi
I might be quite wrong about this, but I seem to remember that the burial ground at All Saints was transcribed - many years ago - and indexed with a map giving the precise location of each stone. This would make finding a relative much easier. I know someone who I am certain has a copy of this document, and will ask about it.
My grandfather was buried there (in the family plot) in 1998. Isn't there some kind of law which prevents development within 100 years after the last burial?
It is very sad indeed to see it in such a state. The old churchyard at Wybunbury is in a similar state, if not worse.

Yes, All Saints cemetery at the Barony was transcribed by the Cheshire Family History Society a few years ago - it has been published and is for sale or can be viewed at the centre at Alsager. It is very comprehensive - but of course only for those graves with headstones.
They have also done Wybunbury but this is not ready for publishing yet.

I have visited the CRO this week and they have the original plan of the 'new' part of the Cemetery (since 1886). This shows the numbered grave plots although newer ones have been squeezed in since then.
They also have the 'official' graves register which is quite useful but has not been properly completed over the years and there are lots of gaps - I guess less than 30% of graves are registered.
If Margaret provides names and dates I am sure one of us locals would try to find the grave for her.

Hi Sem, Could I please ask for a little more information from the headstone of John Procter. Did it happen to say what his age was or place of birth. Regards Sue
