Hi aly,

Welcome to RootsChat.

Let me just see if I have understood this correctly.

Looking for Ann Lewis b about 1813 possibly Bishopstoke.
By 1841 she was Ann Crook living in Easton.
She had a child born/baptised in Easton in 1846 - birth certificate shows her maiden name as Lewis.  Baptism record in 1846 records the parents as James and Rebecca Knight otherwise Crook.
1851 and 1861 the family is recorded as Crook, same house.
1871 the family is now known as Knight.
Possible parents William and Ann Lewis who appear in Easton.  This Ann Lewis died in 1836 in Easton.

Have you looked at any other birth certificates or baptisms for children of James and Ann/Rebecca to confirm the maiden name?

Was Lewis her maiden name or had she been married before she married James?

Do you know when James and Ann married - I've not found anything yet except a marriage in Twyford between James Knight and Rebecca Moody in 1837.

I cannot find any Lewis baptisms in Bishopstoke 1813 onwards.  William and Anne Lewis have 6 children baptised in Easton 1813-1826, none of them named Ann.  The daughter baptised in 1813 to these parents is Maria.  No sign of a Rebecca either.

At the moment not sure where to go on this one - Ann and Rebecca are so dissimilar that I can't see a reason for the change.  With no Lewis baptisms in Bishopstoke, the only other option was that the family were non-conformist.  Unless she was not baptised in Bishopstoke at all but another parish?

Undecided
