Sorry Halj.....

The registers do not cover Nannerch

There are quite a few Gittins in the same area, but not a Joseph I am afraid.

I got these records through the Clwyd family history society.
Their website is www.clwydfhs.org.uk and I have found them well worth the outlay (around £5.80 )

There is a complete list of the available register transcriptions on the site.....

Kind regards

Hello Heather.....

No, I am sorry, there are no Carringtons at all, in the Hawarden area, from 1718-1820........

Is there any way I could help ? I have access to census records 1841-1901, and also BMDs for the area 1837 onwards......

Kind regards

Hi JeannieR
Thank you very much for checking and for the kind offer of help.  My cousins and I have traced our Carringtons to a marriage between John Carrington & Anne Blunt in Llanarmon yn Ial in 1743.  They are both listed as otp but there is nothing further back.  There is also a large contingent of Carringtons in the Halkyn area but have not found any connection yet.

Last night I was looking at the IGI and noticed there was a submitted entry for a Charles Carrington christened Nov 29 1696 in Hawarden, father Edward Carrington.  It caught my eye as he could be a possible connection with all the Carrington's of this area.  Hawarden is also on the way from Derbyshire which is where I have a hunch that our lot originally came from!!

Will have to try the earlier PRs of Hawarden to see if any of the C's are in there.  But at least you have saved me buying the later ones!!  Much appreciated.

Hi Heather.......

I have the same problem with my Podmore family !

William married 1743 at Hawarden, but no idea where he originated.....This is the reason I bought the earlier PRs......in hope...

Anyway, I have them, and if they will help others, that has to be good.......

Good luck in your search

Would you be able to have a look for the baptisms of

John Wright about 1813 and Anne Huntington about 1812.

Unfortunatly I no information about their parents.

Hi Carole.......

I am sure this is your Ann (without the E)

ANN HUNTINGTON . Born March 15th 1812.
Baptised. April 12th 1812
Father Samuel Huntington, labourer
Mother Ann Parsonage
Abode Hawarden

Samuel Huntington married Ann Parsonage January 10th 1808, by licence. Witnesses were....Samuel Parsonage and Thomas Barber

There are two possibles for John Wright......If you are reasonably sure that your John was born c1813, then I think this is him......

JOHN WRIGHT born 6th December 1812
Baptised 25th December 1812
Father Thomas Wright. Joiner
Mother Elizabeth LETTMAN
Abode Hawarden

Thomas Wright married Elizabeth Lettman October 2nd 1809
Witnesses were Edward Letman and Peter Jones

This is the other John......

JOHN WRIGHT born 29th July 1811
Baptised August 11th 1811
Fathe George Wright . labourer
Mother Ellinor JONES
abode Bannel

As I said, I feel the former may be the one......
If Ann and John, had a first born son called Thomas, this may confirm it.........

Hope this helps

Kind Regards

Jeannie

ps......

I have the PR going back to 1718 now, If I can help further, please ask.......

Hireath

Thank you for doing that look up for me.......

I have found some Podmores of about the right age who come from Acton, near Nantwich . I suppose that it may be possible that my William bought a farm there, and married a local girl....

I am hoping to visit Hawarden in the near future, and I may find some thing out from the library . My William's descendent, was a church warden, and actually laid a stone at the church in 1901 . They appear to have had quite a lot of land at Broad Lane, about 430 acres, according to one census....so I may be lucky and find a mention somewhere...

Thank you once again

Hi Jeannie

Did you know that there is a Welsh Probate record, Peculiar of Hawarden available for a William Podmore, Yeoman dated 1784?

The Access to Archives site comes up with 9 hits for that name for the time frame 1700 to 1850 so there may be more treasures there for you Smiley

Good hunting.

Thank you very much - you've saved me a lenthy wander to Hawarden.

Carole

-=MODIFIED=-

I've just had a look at my tree (been in work all day - so frustrating when I have new facts!!)

Was Thomas (son of Ann and John) born about 1837?  I have Thomas as their first born son. Their first born was Mary in 1829.

I agree with you that it is the former John.

Thanks once again
