Hello All I have a relative who lived at 5 Sourh Nicholson St, Sunderland 1860, I know the location of the street, the problem is this street had its named changed to Tweed St in time for the 1861 Census, I cant find my family on the 1861 Census, but what is odd is that the father John Robson died at 75 Tweed st in Mar 1862, age 57, I think the wifes name was Eleanor she would be around 51 in 1860 and born in Byker. I got the South Nicholson St Address from the Marriage of John Robson the son I think? age 22 to Eleanor Hall on Jan 15th 1860. is there anyway I can find out about the family that lived in 5 South Nicholson St in 1860, to confirm my findings
Regards and Thanks Allan Robson

Hi Allan, In the 1861 Census Tweed Street starts at RG9/3772/73/10 with Robert Mitchinson, born 1800 in Wolviston. Unfortunately not all of the houses in Tweed Street have the numbers shown. I don't think that there is any way you could find out who was living in a particular house in 1860. The 1858 Directory only has three entries for South Nicholson Street, at numbers 34, 35, and 79.
Stan

Thanks Barbara I have Eleanor Hall in 1851, this was a case of both John Robson and Eleanor Hall lying about there ages John Robson was born 1840 but said he was 22 when he married in 1860, Eleanor Hall was born in 1831 and said she was 26 in 1860. 1861 Census 20 Sussex st Sunderland John Robson age 23 Seaman born Bishopwearmouth. Eleanor wife age 26 Born Sunderland Douglas son age 4 months
John was not 22 when he married he was not born in Bishopwearmouth, have never found his birth Reg or Baptism. he was aged 1 in 1841 when the family lived in Hetton , he is an odd one.
Regards Allan
