Hello 'lesleyp1964' wherever you are,

Have you not tried the internet.?  Robert Burns (1759-1796) and  Agnes Broun (1732-1820) etc etc etc.. It's all there. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Here's two sites that should help you:

http://www.burness.ca/ld2.htm and http://www.robertburns.org/encyclopedia/index.shtml

Do let us know the connection when you've finished researching.  Smiley

Thank you both, tik tok, and hume,

I am in sunny callander. my partner, being a man, has a bad memory, and does not have a clue when his ancestors were born, at least ...now..I can start researching, and I will let you know the family connection, when I have finished.

kind regards

Hi Lesley
There are lots of public trees on Ancestry  which include Robert Burns - from a quick glance I see his grandfather was Gilbert Brown and his grandmother Agnes Rainie.
That would be a good place to start ie see what other Browns have found! I hope you manage to find the link.
I was in Callander on Monday - my son insisted on getting an ice cream in the Main Street and as you may recall, it was (trying to) snow!
I know the Brown family in the white house at Teithside, beside the red bridge - any relation? By co-incidence, my grandparents used to live in that house.
