Hi, Kris,
Thanks very much for that.  I am having trouble working out who his siblings might be.  There are so many Prouts...

Orphanannie.

Thanks Iria.  A big help.  I am VERY new to this and am finding it quite confusing.
Is it just me, or are all the newcomers baffled to begin with?

Hi Orphanannie,

It does appear you could be up against it with this one. St Teath is a tricky one. Firstly it has not been filmed by the LDS. Secondly there is no OPC for the parish. Unfortunately not even Cornish Forefathers or Legacy have transcribed this parish. I see the records from the parish were not even deposited with the CRO but remained with the Church until 1996.

They have since been indexed by the Cornwall Family History Society. This mean they would be available at pay per view at http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/ I see they list baptisms 1610-1871. Unfortunately there is no parent search available on that site making it very difficult with a common name such as this. Could be worth spending a fiver to see what turns up. Sorry I could not be of any more help...........Kris  Cry

PS. Most of Corwall Census is available Free Online http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,144624.0.html

Everybody struggles at first and (and later)  Roll Eyes and as I said St Teath appears to be a difficult Parish to Research

Hi again Orphanannie,

I must amend what I said above. There do actually appear to be some St Teath Records on The IGI. We have just had another request for Prouts in nearby Michaelstow and I have found there are extracted records for St Teath Listed.

Funnily enough there is a John listed in nearby Michaelstow 12 may 1865 to Matthew and Thomasin (Could be a little early but thought I should mention it anyway)

Matthew PROUT= Thomasin JOSE of St Trudy 23 Jul 1759

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=219302.msg1145075#msg1145075

lettie is after a Matthew too...Could prove interesting  Undecided
