Trying to find Helen Jones (born approx 1865)  in 1881/91 scottish census - can anyone help please?

Hi, do you have a few more details? Where she was born...parents names and ages , brothers and sisters and their names and ages?
It would cut down the results and give more chance of finding her. If you do just post here and i will have a look for you.

I have had a bit of success today and found Helen's family (well I am convinced I am on the right track) but neither Helen nor her father Robert is shown on the 1881 census
This is what I have found
Helen Jones                   Age 48                             Born Ireland
Mary J Jones                          23                             Airdrie, Lanark
Robt Jones                             18                             Airdrie Lanark
Isabella Jones                        10                             Armadale Linlithgow
Thomas Jones                         12                             West Calder, Edinburgh
Mary Higins                                3                             Armadale, Linlithgow
Jessie Thomson                          5m                          Armadale, Linlithgow

The address is shown as Main St. Bathgate

I would like to find Helen Jones (jnr - daughter) who would be about 16, her father Robert who would be about 51, and any other siblings.   Also wonder who the last two children are?

Hi Hazlenuts,

In this family, the mother is actually Mary Jones.  She was born Mary Black and she and Robert married in New Monkland in 1855.  You can view their marriage certificate on ScotlandsPeople for a small fee.  All the children's births show up on the IGI.

The last two on your list are recorded as grandchildren.  Given that there is a daughter Elizabeth born in 1856, I suspect that one of them is hers.

Given that Robert Jones junior is listed as a coal miner, I wonder if Robert senior was on shift that night?  Maybe he was missed.

I can't find Helen.  Have you looked for her in other years or for a marriage?

Have found Helen with her family on the 1871...do you have that one? If not will send it to you. Will have a look on 1881 and see what i can find for Helen and Robert and get back to you.

Here is the family you found on the 1881 in the 1891 census. Still no Robert so looks like he could have died.

Thanks a million - (I made a mistake about the mothers name - it should have read Mary and not Helen) - Helen (the daughter born 1865 )  married James Wilson and was my grandmother - I do not have the 1871 census and would love to see it.
How do I see the whole family on the IGI?  I use familysearch quite a lot but don't know how to see whole familities - think I need some tuition!!!!

As for the IGI on family search...you can search the IGI by surname and parents names, this will give you all births of children with the same parents names.
