Looking for Withers- completed
« on: Thursday 08 March 07 19:37 GMT (UK) »

I am having problems looking for Withers.  I have found the family in 1881 census, but from there I don't know where they have gone.
George Withers 50 - Mary Withers 44- Mary 15 - Ann 12 - George 9 - John 7 -
Ada 4 .  I know Ada came to Canada when she was 24 and married in Galt Ontario.  I am trying to find her family, where they went.  I know they didn't come to Galt.

Thanks that I had already known, sorry about that.  What I am wondering is what happened to them from there.  I'm sure George and Mary would have been buried in Leicester.  But the rest of the family where did they go.  Grandson where did he go.
Any info would be helpful.

So it looks like one of the girls married a Drakely or had illegimate children and used the Dad's last name Drakely. Am I going somewhere with this?  Thanks

June 1887 Leicester 7a 334
Mary Ann Withers to possibly Edward Charles Drakeley

I can't see Mary Ann at home it 1891 or 1901  Huh

However I can't see the birth registrations for the Drakeley children either, nor an Edward Charles Drakeley anywhere  Undecided

I thought I found a John Withers married to an Ada Withers sometime around 1900.  They had a little girl Lilian Withers she died in 1901.  It looks like Ada Withers that was married to John died in 1907.  Would he have married another Withers.  As my Ada came to Canada.

I can see the marriage John Withers - Ada Underwood, Jun 1894 Leicester.

However I understand your Ada was a Withers by birth?  Huh Why would John have married a Withers? There is a possible marriage in Leicester 1908, John Withers to either Florence Chambers or Maria Hickson...  Smiley

If it is the same John, he married at 35 wouldn't that be a little old at that time.

I wouldn't think 35 is too old to remarry ... Why so?

Then of course we haven't got any proof that he's the same John Withers - only the marriage cert would tell.  Smiley

Why is it especially in England we have to order a certificate to be sure.  In an instance like this you could spend many $$$ trying to find something out that probably isn't there.     Sad  I really am discouraged when it comes to this family.  Thanks for all your help.  Maybe one day I will be able to find out more about this family.
