Longester Family in Bewcastle

My 5 x gg gramdmother Elizabeth Longester married a John Elliott in Bewcastle and they had their first child John christened there 1761.
While Elliott is a well known border name and associated with this region does anyone know were the Longester family originated?

Any information will be gratefully received.
