Have my gt.gt.gr.mother in 1901 census in Carrickasticken[Co. Armagh]
She was Jane McNeill, aged 91, born Louth.
Her maiden name was STEWART and she married Hugh McNeill.
They had 2 children that I know of - HENRY b. Louth 1847
and Eliza Anne b. about 1851/52.
She m. HENRY KANE in FORKHILL [Armagh] in 1871.He was from DUNDALK.
They had 9 or 10 children. One was my gr.father ROBERT HENRY KANE b. Glasgow 1874.
Can anybody help with any of this?

There is a Jane Stewart, baptised in the Church of Ireland Parish of Dundalk, on 25 March 1809, who would seen to fit in with your ancestor. Her parents were Thomas and Anne Stewart and the father was a private in the RNB Dragoons (I imagine these are the Royal North Britain Dragoons, though someone else may correct me. North Britain = Scotland). There is one sibling to Jane: William, baptised on the same date.

Thanks for reply re Jane Stewart! Looks promising!
I now have a death for Hugh McNeill in 1887, and for Jane McNeill Dec 1905 aged 94, both Carrickasticken, Forkhill, Armagh.

As Henry and Eliza were born 1847 and 1851/2 is there a sporting chance that I could find a marriage for Jane and Hugh? They were protestant, and protestant marriages were recorded from 1845.

Robert Henry Kane born 11 Jan.1873 Co. Louth, Ireland, son of Henry Kane & Eliza Ann McNeill.
No marriage for Hugh McNeill and Jane Stewart on BVRI v.2 but perhaps marriage took place before 1845- there could even be children older than Henry and Eliza Ann.

Thanks aghadowey. I have the birth of Robert Henry Kane. Unfortunately he died as a baby and the next child of Henry and Eliza, born in Glasgow Jan. 1875,was given the same name. He was my paternal grandfather!
I have Henry McNeill in Bray in 1911 census, with Robert, wife Annie, and son Herbert, my father.
