Hello Sandy (The devil rides again LOL !)
Ok not proof yet, the most likly of the two candidates does point to Samuel
thomas thompson side of the family is hugh I note that the Thomas Thompson who was a parish clerk was in fact the son of Thomas and Mary ! he two married a Mary, just too confuse the issue even further.
Now i had a look on familyhistoryonline and found that a John Thompson buried at Mears Ashby 8th Aug 1856 aged 47 and on the Freebmd a death John thompson Wellingboro 3b 73 Sep Q 1856 which covers Mears Ashby but you have the same date but a differant year 1855 ? Please say i have not found another John. LOL

Thats ok Sandy LOL we are all aloud to do ONCE ! LOL !
just found out that Samuel Thompson died aged 77 in 1848 Mears Ashby but he is not in the 1841 Census ! If he was and he too was an Ag Lab that would also tie it in a little more.
And not to get confused with yet another that died aged 77 in 1848 in Rushton

Right to add to all this lot
Two Hannah Thompsons buried in Mears Ashby
Hannah 3rd dec 1816 aged 42 Hannah 12th Jan 1861 aged 78
Makes me wonder did Samuel marry two Hannahs ! as the second marriage which was Hannah Tyrell was in 1819 and could be the one that died in 1861 the First Hannah dieing in 1816

Now this is a maybe !
Samuel Thompson otp to Hannah Clayson otp 8th Nov 1802 Pitsford.
Pitsford and Mears Ashby are close by. If this is right then i have Clayson on two sides of the family !

Ah you have forgiven me. Bless.
Feeling a lot worse so just a couple of things. After this going back to bed.
I have all the graves for Mears Ashby but only Thomas and John (wife Margaret) noted so will find later in week.
I did see Samuel marrying in Pitsford which is as you rightly say not far from M.A.
Can not see him on 1841 census either maybe you could request a look up.
At least you seem to be making headway.

Yes thank you i do feel i am making headway but it is that viatal piece of info the positive connection that i cannot make. Like i said it points to the person, but no true eveidence.
But when we get that far back, that may be all we will get, but i will keep going I will do a new posting for him in the 1841 like you said. Good idea
Do get better soon
