I have them on the 1861 census at Drayton Parslow, Buckinghamshire
James Stone Head M 43 Agric Lab Buckinghamshire Drayton Parslow Hariot Wife M 42 Lace Maker Buckinghamshire Whaddon Ann daur Un 18 Plaiter Buckinghamshire Drayton Parslow Ellen daur Un 14 Plaiter Buckinghamshire Drayton Parslow Susanna daur 12 Plaiter Buckinghamshire Drayton Parslow Jane daur 10 Scholar Buckinghamshire Drayton Parslow James son 8 Scholar Buckinghamshire Drayton Parslow Joseph Sear son 5 Scholar Buckinghamshire Drayton Parslow John Sear son 1 Buckinghamshire Drayton Parslow RG9; Piece: 870; Folio: 35; Page: 10
It seems strange that the names of the youngest are Sear unless they have only recently married and Sear is possibly a previous marriage name of Hariot. The only way to know for sure is by either the birth certificate of one of the youngsters, or the marriage certificate of James and Hariot.

Hi Phishy,
I have just had a look at the census and it looks as though Sear is the middle name for John and Joseph, the enumerator has ditto'd the surname.
Kind regards,
Pels

Well that's that theory out of the window, they are already married in 1851 - wonder why the children were given that surname? I'm suspecting the enumerator made an error in writing Harriott's age here since it doesn't match that given in 1861 and if she is his first wife then 22 wouldn't make sense with the age of the children.

In 1841 there are three James Stone's of about the right age living in Drayton Parslow, only one of them living with parents.
One of them is a 20 year old Ag Lab in the same household as Kitty Millburn 50, Mary Kemp 47, both Publicans, and Robert Kemp 20 another Ag lab and Elizabeth Potkin? a 15 year old F.S. all born in county.
Three dwellings away from the above James Stone 60 Ag Lab Ann 50 William 15 Ag Lab Joseph 12 Hannah 10 / Jas Stone 45 Jane 50 James 20 Ag Lab John 14 Ag Lab Jane 14 Mary 10 Richard 4 All born in County HO107/49/8 8/11
The other one - Elizabeth Trebor 73 Richard Stone 27 Ag Lab James 21 Ag Lab All born in County HO107/49/8 11/17
So you will need that marriage certificate.
