4th GGrandfather Joseph Boultbee (1758-1821)

I have a William Jopson, age 50, born Abt. 1791 & I would like to know what his occupation is from the 1841 census please. Source info : HO107/1159/7.

There is a 50yr old William Jopson in Kirkdale, Liverpool, a turpentine distiller.- born out of county.
There is also a 50yr old William Jopson in Finsbury,Middlesex, a tailor, also born out of county.

Wow, that was quick!!
Thanks again but they may not be "my" William, as he was an Excise Officer. By the way Sue, I cannot find any of the Jopson family as yet in 1841 census. I've looked under Jopson/Jobson/Jepson/Jopsen etc. William (head) born abt. 1789, don't know where, Ann, wife, born 1797, Leyland, Lancashire. Kids: Mary, born 1829, Hatherton, Cheshire, Edward, born 1832, Longton, Staffordshire & Cicely, born 1833, Longton, Staffordshire. William died on 11 Aug 1950, Hanley, Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire & I've found the rest on 1851 census, Edward & Cicely migrated to Australia in 1852, & I've found Ann & Mary on 1861, 1871 until Ann died in 1878. Mary is on 1881,1891 & 1901. Can you check for me, if you have access, as to whether this family were passengers to New York around the 1841 Census time & why wouldn't they appear on the 1841 census but appear on all the others?

Sorry I don't have access to passenger records.
I tried searching for them in 1841 but no luck. It looks as if they must have been in Staffordshire at that time, but somehow must have got missed off the census.

That's ok re: NY passenger lists & yep it's a real pity that they aren't on the 1841 as it would give William Jopson's place of birth!
Oh well...I'll find it sometime but thanks for your help all the same.
