There's one in Jarrow on the 1901, a carpenter labourer; and one born South Shields in Poplar, London, a plumber. Both approximately the right age.

Sorry but I don't have access to the addresses.

1901:
RG13; Piece: 4740; Folio: 114; Page: 16.

35-37 Stanley St Jarrow (Lodging house)
Alexander Scott 22 yrs carpetner's labourer born Jarrow

RG13; Piece: 4720; Folio: 11; Page: 14.
Vine Street Sunderland
a nephew of Madaline Tracey along with Albert Scott , 26 yrs (so don't think it's him) b Sunderland

RG13; Piece: 1105; Folio: 61; Page: 21.
District Ramillies Barracks and Adjoining Buildings Farnborough Hampshire
Alexander Scott 18 yrs private infantry born Washington  Durham

this one seems most likely but you would imagine that the age would have been more accurate being in the army.

i have found the following info i hope this helps
1891 England Census Alexander Scott was aged 11
son of william and jane
born in Washington, Durham, England. - barmston in the parish of holy trinity church ( known locally as the church on the hill, I live in washington myself  Smiley).

Jane Scott    47 mother
Thomas Scott    6 a scholar
William Scott    56 a labourer
William Scott    14 a coal miner
the names on the record arnt very clear but the address seems to say
109 gallimore town, which to be honest with you i have never heard of and ive lived here al my life, i know im not that old but i would of heard of such a place in history. i will have a look on the 1891 census for you.

Hi again,
not sure if you knew the 1881 details already but there is an older brother Benjamin.
He might be at  RG13; Piece: 4717; Folio: 12; Page: 15 in 1901

with wife Betsey E and children Thomas W, Jane M and Benjamin M.
if you need full details please post
