I'm looking for Palmer, Barr, McGarry/Megarry, Madden. Is this easy for you to look up. I'm beginning to search in the Ballymena area for these families. Can you see any of these families?

Just the one name represented. Here is the inscription:
The Family Burying Ground of Archiebald Barr, Deerfin, Ballymena. The Lords My Shepherd. (Light Grey Marble). At least you have a Townland mentioned and you may find the Barrs in this area. Deerfin is in Ballyclug Parish, South of Broughshane. Good Luck Rosemary

I have a family member born in Ballyclug in the 1800's so was hoping you are able to look for the McILHAGGA and CRAIG names in the records.

Hello there, I have one Craig:
Mary CRAIG died August 1885. Erected by her son W. C. Craig, U.S.A. (Dark Grey Marble)
Sorry, no McIlhaggas.
By the way, my g.g.grandmother was Margaret Craig, born 1820, married Robert Anderson and lived in Broughshane. Any connection??

It it is so hard finding Irish ancestry that every piece is valued. I am hoping I can place Mary Craig at some future point.
My g-grandparents were Robert McIhagga and Margaret Craig who married in 1876, in the Wellington Street Presbyterian Church, Parish Kirkinriola, Civil District Ballymena.
They had a large number of children but I have only found a few. The eldest Matilda Jane McIlhagga was born in Ballyclug.
My grandfather ran away to sea at eleven years old and rarely spoke of his family.
Yesterday, I received a copy of the g-grandparents marriage certificate and My Margaret's father was William Craig, a labourer. The two witnesses on the certificate were Jane Craig and Robert Craig.
There may be a connection between the two Margaret Craig's! The difficulty is to find it.

Dear Redgum, You never know, we might be related! I notice there are very few Milhaggars listed anywhere in the Ballyclug area, but see a Samuel McIlhaggar(t) leasing in the Townland of Ballymuckvea in Connor Parish about 1862. This is where my Ross ancestors lived. Is this Samuel yours? There a few marriages and births in Emerald Ancestors if you are interested. Very few McIlhaggars on the LDS but worth a look. Ignore the spelling as it seems to have lots of variants. RosemaryJoan

Dear ladygrez, No Hiltons or McCluskys there but that doesn't mean they aren't buried there. I have visited this very evocative graveyard and there really aren't many headstones left. This was a multi-denominational graveyard.
BUT - here goes:
Erected By James Ballentine, Ballee, In Memory Of His Son William Hugh Ballentine, Who Died 30th January 1873 Aged 2 Years, And His Son Alexander Ballentine Who Died 17th August 1881 aged 10 Years. Also His Daughter Agnes Ballentine Who Died 12th April 1889, Aged 2 Years. And His Wife Agnes Ballentine Died 31st July 1915, Aged 72 Years. Also the Above Named James Ballentine, Who Died 6th July 1927, Aged 81 Years. Also His Son Alexander, Died 23rd May 1942 Aged 57 Years. His Last Son Hugh Adrain(spelling?) Died 4th June 1948 Aged 65 Years. And Elizabeth Wife of Hugh A. Ballentine, Died 15th January 1963. Surround: In loving Memory of Alexander Ballentine Died 23rd May 1942 and His Wife Margaret Maria Died 2nd August 1974. Daughter Nora Kathleen Died 15th August 1984. Daughter Edna Isobel Died 5th March 1984. Also His Daughter Nan Died 15th November 1961. (Grey Marble)
IT MUST BE VERY COSY IN THERE!!

Thanks, that's brilliant. There may well be a connection to "my" earlier Ballantines : James (farmer) spouse Margaret Johnston who had a daughter Agnes b. 1819 m. John Hilton (weaver)1842 at Cross Keys.
