Eliza Aldridge
« on: Monday 12 March 07 12:21 GMT (UK) »

Good afternoon
Can anyone help find my missing Great Grandmothers birth family?Huh According to census returns she was born abt 1835 in Hereford-this information taken from returns post 1871* after her marriage to Charles Hirons. They lived in Stratford on Avon.I have her marriage certificate dated January 1867-marriage took place in West Bromwich. Her age was given as 30, her status as single and fathers name was William-he was shown as a carpenter.
Witnesses at the marriage turn out to be a Thomas Clewer and his wife Mary Ann who happens to be none other than a Mary Ann Aldridge -census returns indicate that she was born in Hereford around 1826-I guess this is G'granma's sister BUT I cannot find any census returns or records for Eliza prior to 1871(see above at *) there is a record for a William Aldridge living in Hereford in 1841/51 with a daughter called Mary but as Mary Ann married in 1850 this is unlikely to be the same person-and no trace of Eliza at all.
Charles had been married previously and had children by this first marriage -from his marriage to Eliza there were two children -my paternal grandmother Annie born in 1871 and her brother Arthur born in 1875-I have no idea what happened to Arthur post 1901. Eliza re-married on the death of Charles to a John Pittam.
Anyone who can help trace her birth family would be of enormous help to me-unfortunately living abroad I have to rely on online resources which have failed me as afar as I can see-this website hopefully will help or at least suggest some other lines I could follow up.
Thanks-in hopeful anticipation!!
Ann

Thanks now to try and find some living relatives!!! My grandmother NEVER spoke about her parents  or even her brother-I do hope I can find someone in the family.
Cheers

Hi
Many thanks-will now be checking out their ancestors-if I can find them on IGI which I guess is the only place to look-found possible family to William but not his parents-must have another look. What I really need is living descendants who may be able to fill in the gaps-BUT?Huh?
Cheers
