1841 lookup please! Brington

Can someone please do a lookup for me on any Lewins living in the Brington area of Hunts?
I have thought for the last 10 years that the Lewins only came to Brington in the 1850s but after doing a long search through the site www.a2a.org.uk i have found a Thomas Lewin as the Brington churchwarden in 1807 so looks as though they may have arrived before i thought!

ANY information fund would be appreciated!

None actually indexed in Brington - quite a few in Ellington tho (*same Census PIECE number of 450...

But a manual search of the 4 pages of Brington shows:-

Jonathan Lewin 46 Farmer Born in County
Sarah Lewin 46 do

Ah! I think they are the Lewins i already have, though didnt know they lived in Ellington for a time! Thats new!

Thankyou for your search! I shall have to find a different avenue to locate the Thomas Lewin of 1807!

Think htere may be a link with Northamptonshire with my Lewins. There was a house in Brington around the beginning of the 1800s called Robert Morton Lewins Lodge. The only Robert M Lewin i can find in the 1841 census is in Northamptonshire.

I didnt say they were in Ellington, just that there were Lewins there - and then I found those people mistranscribed in Brington...

There were a number of Lewin marriages in Ellington in the period 1754-1837 with the earliest in 1765, but none in Brington in the same period.

Similarly with burials - plenty in Ellington, but the first in Brington was Charles age 36 on 27 Oct 1829

Brington records have been extracted onto the BVRI - the earliest Lewin baptism is Charles on 6 June 1819 son of Charles & Marianne. The only other parents are Jonathan and Emma who were baptising children 1846-58

I didn't read into Newfy's message that the 4 Lewins he found had lived in Ellington.

it is probably the fact that i have been reading so much about the family that i read into it! I do have lewins in brington but i dont have the 1841 census so that information has been brilliant!

Yes, Thomas Morton Lewin is my gt. gt. gt. Grandfather! The Morton name has been bothering me for a while as i have not yet found a lead for that. The Lewins i have, named a lot of children with Morton as a middle name. The earliest connection i have found is Robert Morton Lewin who had a house in Brington around 1822 but i have no other details for this Robert. I think he may have lived in Alwalton and had a sister who was removed from the parish for being single and pregnant!

6 miles west of Brington but in Northants. Brington is in Thrapston reg district

The county boundary between Hunts and Northants runs between Brington and Thrapston, so it's not surprising that people from Brington Hunts sometimes married in the next village, which just happened to be in Northants, and more probably, vice versa. But it does make life a bit messy as neither county is very well covered on the IGI

Try a request on the Northants Look up request board asking for a look up in Northants Marriage Index to see if there is a Lewin- Morton marriage.
