I use Stat counter to monitor visitors to my website. Every so often I find that I get a 'Hidden Referer' rather than a referral path (e.g. rootschat or cyndislist, etc)
Obviously it's possible to hide one's trail. Does anyone know how it's done and who would want to do it anyway? It gives the visitors ISP details, etc.

I get this too. I also get visitors for whom the page loaded is shown as "no referring link", but I can see what the previous page loaded was!
Indeed, I had one visitor for whom the page loaded was shown, and then they came back 6 hours later it was showing "no referring link"
It must be some kind of security software, but I've never seen anything that fits this description. Any ideas out there in RootsChat land?.

Some Browsers allow you to prevent the passing of previous page information to the Server.
Some people are paranoid, and the rest don't care.

There again, if someone types in the address to their browser, then there is no referring page.
Favourites have a similar effect.
It is only if you click on a link on a page that there is a referring page.

So Gadget
As I have lots of No referring link too we can only surmise that lots of people are sticking us in their favourites!

Oh, Favourites, I hadn't thought about that!
Thank you gbaynes
It's nice to think that there's someone in Dunblane who has my website in their Favourites.
There have been others but last night it was Dunblane

I've had statslog entries showing "Locked Referrer" which must be the case with such a set-up?
