I am looking to trace back further the Croxford family from this relative.

Originally I searched the 1911 census for Louisa Croxford (1908-1989) and found these details:

Louisa Croxford     b: 1908 - Stanwell, Middlesex, England         Daughter
Victoria Croxford    b: 1910 - Stanwell, Middlesex, England         Daughter
Violet Croxford       b: 1907 - Stanwell, Middlesex, England         Daughter

Victor Croxford       b: 1882 - Eton Wick, Buckinghamshire, England     Head
Sarah (Croxford)    b: 1882 - Wiltshire/Berkshire, England                   Wife

The problem is now that there are conflicting census records (1881 and 1891) for Victor, both the correct birth place and date, which give different sets of parents!

Not sure which ones are correct so cannot progress.


Also if Victor/Sarah had any more children besides those 3 known.

There is an 1881 census which states Victor's parents as James and Lidia, which I originally took to be correct.

However there is a 1891 census, with the same details, listing Victor's parents as Isaac and Leddiard Lamb!?

in 1891 I think his mother has re-married.

In 1901 she may be this one:
Lydia Lamb   58y   b Bucks Dorney   Living: Stanwell (Middx)
RG13; Piece: 1174; Folio: 166; Page: 8
Victor is enumerated as a "Lamb"

Looking at the information you posted I also then found a death record for James in 1885 so it is plausable that Sarah then remarried.

I didn't understand though why Victor and his sibling were listed as Croxford's on the Lamb's census?

Also I thought Victor's mothers name was Lidia, on the 1891 census it states Leddiard?

I think it could well be the correct 1881 and 1891 censuses we found but I didn't get why the information didn't quite seem to make sense.
