Hi
It's Fred and Ellen's marriage certificate.I'm even further away as I now live in Cornwall and can't see a trip to Oxford in the near future.
Just have to keep searching. Which Wakeling are you descended from?

Hi,
I'm from their first child, Catherine (b 1859). She had a daughter (Ellen) with a Mr Viney (not found a marriage). Catherine then married Frederick Vicary when Ellen was about 2. I'm descended from Ellen's first child.
Ellen had 10 children; including a Catherine and a Frederick..........another one who never got round to marrying They like to make life tricky for us don't they!

Hello
I'm also looking for Frederick Wakeling, the same man you're looking for (I'm decended from Thomas Wakeling, his son)...
What confuses me, apart from not being able to find him in 1851, is that I can't find him, Ellen or Catherine (who was born in 1859(?)) on the 1861 census!!!
I've looked in Suffolk, Oxford and London... where were they hiding! lol

Hi,
Catherine Wakeling was born 30/8/1859 in St. Pancras; I have the cert. The other children shown on 1871 census also have St. Pancras as birthplace.
Do you have a birth cert for Thomas that confirms his birthplace as St. Pancras area?
The family seems to stay in the north west area of London.
Hoping to be able to get to Oxford to search parish registers in a couple of months.

Hi Nanny Jan...
I was having a look on the BMD site and found this marriage entry for a 'Susannah Wakeling' (for March 1839)
BAYLIS Mary Letitia Oxford DERRICK Thomas Oxford EMPSON Jane Oxford JULIAN Elizabeth Oxford LAST William Cooper Oxford PENNINGTON John Oxford WAKELIN John Oxford WAKELIN Susannah Oxford
I've searched each of the men but can't find any of them married to a Susannah... I shall have another look tomorrow - wouldn't it be nice if this was 'our' Susannah lol (I bet it's not though:-\ )

Hi Selby,
Well there's 4 couples in that list so she must have married one of them! Perhaps there was an early, pre-1841 census death?
Busy morning here but hope for time later to have a longer search.

Updating.
A quick visit to the Oxford Record Centre failed to find any more clues regarding Frederick's early years. I was unable to find a Bastardy Bond nor could I find any more clues from the Bucknell Parish Register as to the fate of his mother, Susannah.
The search goes on............
