Hi,
Could any body help me trace George Laidler on the 1841 census?
He was born in South Shields abt 1815.
By 1851 he was married and living in Lanchester, his address: 9 Berry Edge.  With him was his wife, Mary (born abt 1816 in Scotland) and his children:
Grace born abt 1842 either in 'Kells' or 'Thornley'
Joseph born abt 1849  in Lanchester.
By 1861 the family have moved to Sunderland and were living in Hatcase in the East End.  The family now included, Mary (born abt 1852 in Mickley) and Martha born in 1855 in Sunderland - my gg grandmother.
They were still living at 9 Hatcase in 1871 although both Grace and Joseph appear to have left home but I cannot trace their whereabouts at all.
George Laidler had been a coal miner but by 1871 his occupation was listed as 'Hawker'
He is dead before 1881 as his wife, Mary is now a widow and is still alive (and living in Hatcase) in 1891.
I can't find any trace of their marriage or George's birth either, any help would be most appreciated!

Don't know if you have George's death, but this could be it:


George LAIDLER, aged 59,  MAR qrt 1874, registration district Sunderland
GRO ref: 10a/422
