I have established a connection with the BELCHER family of Great Coxwell, Berks and would be pleased to compare notes with any other RootsChatters having a similar interest.
My direct link is with Ann Belcher, b. 1793 Great Coxwell, d/o Henry Belcher & Susanna Legg.
Ann married William Judge James, a printer, in 1815 in Oxford.
Ann's father Henry Belcher was b. 1753, Great Coxwell, s/o Henry Belcher & Ann Roberts.
Regards, rthom

Thanks, janjim. As likely as they are, I'm afraid I can't draw any links with your Peter s/o John Belcher as all my info is from 100-150 years earlier. Please keep me posted if you manage to get back this far.

Hi suzard,
Well this is very interesting, thank you very much for this information.
I will look further into this now, though a little confused, but you never know what families do sometimes, maybe to cover up, I'm not sure !!!

Hello Sue:
Many thanks for the kind offer.
I believe I have most of my Belcher family extracted from the Great Coxwell PRs, back to the marriage of Henry Belcher & Ann Roberts in May 1750. This Henry appears to have been born abt 1723, but in another parish not yet identified.
I would greatly appreciate it if you would check the later Great Coxwell PRs to see if there are baptisms for William James (abt 1815/6) and Elizabeth James (abt 1816), both the children of William Judge James and Ann Belcher.
Regards, rthom

Many thanks, Sue.
William (Judge) James shows up in later records as a printer/compositor in Oxford, which clarifies the baptism entry you found.

HI rthom,
I have a few "Belchers " in my tree as my mother was a Belcher. Her father and other ancesters seem to come from Hagbourne, Harwell & Hanney.
As you probally already know the Belchers appear in numerous Berks parishes and Great
Coxwell is only a small distance away. We may have an ancester who connects with yours.
Alan

Hi Alan:
Thanks for that info. I'm afraid the only Belchers I have tracked are those from Great Coxwell in the mid to late 1700s. So if you find a connection, I will be pleased to share what I have.
I also have Belchers in another line that come from Kidlington in Oxfordshire around the same time:
Martha Belcher bap. Jul 28, 1745, St Mary the Virgin, Kidlington, Oxon; bur. Aug 21, 1816, age 72, St Nicholas, Islip (as Shirley); d/o William Belcher & Martha [IGI]. She married Daniel Shirley on Nov 7, 1768, St Nicholas, Islip.

Hello rthom
I have a couple of Belcher Families in my tree but later than the one you are looking at - I have a Henry Belcher (1782-1862) marrying in 1803 Mary Acott (1776-1861) and a William Belcher bn 1776 marrying Mary's sister Ann Acott (1779-1852) also in 1803.
I would be interested in how these families all fit together as I was born a Roberts and am directly related to the Roberts Family of Great Coxwell. I have an Ann Roberts born in 1725 who I have "lost" maybe I just hadn't found her marriage and she is the Ann you mention. She is the daughter of Hugh Roberts.
I have the Great Coxwell PR's on fiche so will check this out next time I can access a reader.
Best wishes Amanda

Children of Henry Belcher and Ann Roberts were [Great Coxwell PRs]: i Mary Belcher, bap. May 19, 1751, Great Coxwell, Berks. ii Henry Belcher, bap. Feb 11, 1753, Great Coxwell, Berks; m. Regards, rthom

Hello s rthom
We appear to be distantly related - very distantly related!!! Hugh Roberts and my 7xGreat Grandfather, Henry, were brothers.
I must have missed Ann Roberts marriage but I will go back and check it all out to add this new line to my tree.
Many thanks for the information you have provided. Do you also have the Acott girls in your Belcher family? I am related to them too!
Best wishes Amanda
