Hi I'm looking for Mary Ann Hobbs b 1845 approx in Warboy, Huntingdonshire. Her parents were Thomas Hobbs and Mary Ann Woods. She emigrated to Australia in 1853 with her parents. Sorry but that's all the information I have.
regards Patricia

How sure are you about Mary Ann Woods? There's a marriage in St Ives, Hunts registration district in the Dec quarter 1844 between Thomas Hobbs and Mary Ann Lancaster. She seems a bit young to have been a widow when she married.
After a couple of glasses of wine at lunch Pidley cum Fenton can look very like Pridley! It really is Pidley.
Regards
David

Hi Joe I think you've cracked it - with two Mary's in the house it is very likely that Mary the younger was called Ann. Thank you very much. regards Patricia

All I've got to do know is look for the parents on the 1841 and check that none of them can be found on census records from 1861.

An Ann Hobbs age 35 was buried at Warboys on 24 Aug 1830. The only marriage of a Thomas Hobbs in Hunts that is consistent with a birth in 1791, children being born 1825-6, and possible spouse Ann was at Ramsey in 1819 with Ann Woodruff (per Hunts Marriage Index). It would need baptism entries for Thomas or Samuel to confirm that the mother was Ann.
Ramsey is only 4 miles from Warboys.
Regards
David
