Hi Kate - thanks very much for your reply.  Yes I would be very grateful if you could send me the info you mentioned.
I'm trying to find my grandfather who was married to Bridget Mary Crawford, either in Manchester or Ireland.

Hi Kate - thanks for all the info.  Unfortunately, I don't recognise any of the names, and I don't know how old James  would have been in 1911 - I'm guessing in his
late twenties.  I've tried the English 1901 census and he is not there so possibly he was in Ireland then.
If you don't mind sending me the Dublin ones, I would appreciate it.   When the 1911 census becomes available, we will definitely be able to track him down!
Thanks, Anne

Hiya bristolsherriff,

Tyrrell is a well known name in Arklow. An article in Arklow.ie dated 5th March mentioned Arklow Lifeboat Operations Manager Jimmy Tyrrell is to receive the highest honour of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

You might get a result if you post a message to Arklow.ie There's an email address on the website.

Hi, Re: Gina45's post. The shipbuilding the Tyrrells are noted for was started by Michael Tyrrell. His son John started John Tyrrell & Sons, which then passed to his son Jack (of Asgard 11 fame). Jack's brothers were also heavily involved in the maritime industry. Michael owned and operated coastal steamers, Joe was initially a woodwork teacher and then started Tuskar Boats in Wexford, and Willie started Arklow Engineering, now part of the Arklow Marine Services group. There were also 2 sisters who I haven't been able to track down yet, but 1 of whom married a farmer in the Wicklow area.

Jimmy Tyrrell of lifeboat notoriety, mentioned earlier in the thread, is a cousin of my father, son of Joe.

There's also another family offshoot in Canada apparently. Michael (? I need to check) a cousin of Michael, Jack, Joe, & Willie lived in Vancouver and taught at a maritime college there, after a colourful career at sea as a senior engineer aboard tankers after WW2.
