Do you have the marriage cert? If so who was William's father and who were the witnesses ... That may give us some added info which will help in the search.
Any other names and dates would really help

I have Beswick's in Whittington, Derbyshire but havent come across a Romany link for them. Would be v interested if anyone else has these.

My ancestor is Rebecca Beswick born 1865 in Whittington, Derbys. Her father was William born 1829 (I also have a photo of him). William was a tailor. William's father was George, born 1793 in Whittington and he was also a tailor.

Have found your Beswicks on the 1891 at High St, Tadcaster and on the 1881 at Rookcliff Gardens, Tadcster, Yorks RG11/4713, also on the 1871 mis-transcribed as Berswick RG10/4286 living at Knaresborough. The only William Beswick I can find on the freebmd who may fit was born 1846 Halifax Yorkshire. On the census I found sometimes his place of birth is given as Yorkshire Darlington and sometimes as Durham Darlington
Have had difficulty finding him on the 1861 or the 1851 - I suspect he will be recorded as being born Yorkshire - not Durham. I would ask the Yorkshire section of the site to help you find him - he must be there somewhere.

There is a William Beswick on the IGI baptised 8th Nov 1844 at Easingwold, Yorkshire - son of John & Mary
Easingwold seems to be not too far from Thirsk, Darlington, or Knaresborough
