I notice that the FreeREG website is now up and running.
There arent any entries for Northumberland or Durham but it looks like the site owners are looking for volunteers.
I dont have anything connection with the owners of the website at all, but wondered if there was anybody reading this who might be willing to fly the flag for the North East?

Good afternoon to the list.

Further to the message of lynxafrica, I can now confirm that I have agreed to become the coordinator for FreeREG Northumberland.

Currently, there is very little data available for Northumberland in the database, in contrast with County Durham which now has over 86500 records on line.

I have begun transcribing some burials for All Saint's Newcastle, but much more remains to be done.

If any members of the list either have Parish Register or BT transcriptions that they have made, or know of others who might be willing to share their transcripts with FreeREG I would be grateful if you could get in touch. Obviously, reference will be made on the FreeREG site to the transcriber/editor/owner etc. of any material provided.

If any members of the list are either interested in beginning to transcribe Parish Registers, or have experience of doing so, and would be willing to help by agreeing to transcribe Parish  Registers for FreeREG Northumberland, I would again be grateful if they could contact me.

May I just remind you that the FreeREG site can be found at  http://freereg.rootsweb.com/

Happy hunting,

Stephen Andrews
