Christmas Day2009

Nicholas Dopson/Dobson Fyfield Wilts
« on: Sunday 25 March 07 16:44 UTC (UK) »

I seem to be the only one looking for the above in the Wilts area.
I am looking for Nicholas Dopson/Dobson b.1726 in Fyfield Wilts possibly married to Ann.  Researching him has been very difficult as his grandson is also Nicholas married to Ester.  It seems Nicholas was a very popular name in the 16/1700's.  Here are some I've found.

Nicholas and Ann having a son Charles in 1613,
Nicholas Dobson mar. Ann Trye 1608 Preshute which is near Fyfield
Nicholas Dbson mar. Jone Bartlett 1611
Nicholas Dobson b.1672 Marlborough not far from Fyfield,
Nicholas Dobson mar. Mary Lydall 1640 Preshute
Nicholas Dopson chr. 1678 Fyfield
There is aso a Nicholas and Agnes having children around 1620

The list goes on but I am unable to connect any.  Any help much appreciated,
Regards Abiam

Hi Frances,
I already have a Nicholas as Chr. in Fyfield abt 1726 from a Dopson/Dobson website.  But no parents are given and of course Christened doesn't neccesarily mean born.  This Nicholas went on to have 4 children, the last one in 1770.  Which means he would have been 44 when that last one was born which is possible.  They did go on producing much longer then.
But I suppose, equally, it could be John and Sarah and Nicholas was the last born.  John would have been 54 when and if N. was born the same year as he was Christened.  So that's possible too.
So now I don't know what to think!  If you can find anything else.......
Would it be possible to find the marriage of Nicholas and Ann?
Thank you very much for trying, Regards Abiam
