I have looked at the original census again and yes I suppose that the one is in the male column although the month goes across both.

I have looked at all Summers births listed as male and female. The only one that comes up for Tonbridge at that time is female registered in june 1841 so i could be back on the right track again, Phil.

Thats the one I told you about the other day ?

If the other Sarah was on the 1841 census and she died, is her death registered before the birth of female summers ?

Thankyou both for your help. My mother in law is going to Pembury next week. Does anyone know if there are any local records nearby and if they look in some local graveyards how many were in that area in the late 1700s. My mother in law was always told that a place called Summerhill was named after one of the family and we have just found it on an old map near Tudeley if this helps narrow the search of churches. Any help much appreciated, Phil
