aunt and cousins named orr
« on: Friday 05 March 04 15:25 GMT (UK) »

Trying to research our late father's family history.  My aunt Ellen was married to Andy(presumably Andrew) Orr.  Not sure of marriage dates or much about the family at all.  There were 2 sons as far as I'm aware.  I know one was called Robert.  I know they used to live in the Sale area of Cheshire.  Ellen(poss Helen) is deceased.  She is my late father's sister.  My father is Sidney Young born on 29/07/1909, one of twins at 38 Avon Street, Walcot, Bath.  My paternal grandparents are Charles and Emily Young. Emily is formerly Emily Wheeler, born around 1863 in, I believe, Lydiard Millicent.  Not sure which area Charles was born in, but possibly Walcot.  Would like to trace Robert Orr if possible as he or his brother(can't remember his name) may hold the key to our ancestry.  Ellen Orr nee Young is older than my father(i am told he was the youngest of 8 or 9 children and the only son of Emily and Charles).  As far as I'm aware the Orr family were still in Sale in the1960s.  Help anyone!

Kind regards

Mary Young Smiley

Dear Mary,

As you are aware the Orr name is quite popular!

You should have a look at the Cheshire Births, Marriages and Deaths link http://www.rootschat.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=957
which will take you to a site with lots of Orr's living in Cheshire.

There are still 3 Orr's living in Sale today. (None were the names mentioned) You can find out more from the Electorial Roll.

Best Wishes

Sarah
