Can you help........

My Ancestor charts will not load.....in their boxes.......http://pattillo.rootschat.net/tng/index.php

What should I do?

Hi Kenjo

At a rough guess I would say that there are a number of components missing from the 'tng' directory e.g. glasshouse.jpg and various icons.

There is also a JavaScript that should also be in the 'tng' directory:

<SCRIPT language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="tngmenuhover.js"></SCRIPT>

You may need to check where you have uploaded them to.

If they are in the directory:

http://pattillo.rootschat.net/

Then they may need to be put in:

http://pattillo.rootschat.net/tng

Either that or you need to alter the HTML code so that it points to the correct location e.g.

src="../tng/glasshouse.jpg"

Thankyou Downside for replying.

This problem happened right at the beginning, after uploading the first gedcom.......
This is what it looked like and still does if you go to Ancestor charts using the box type...everything in this wonderful program works well......(I don't work well, though Tongue

) except for this one thing......
I wrote to the author of TNG and Darrin has been very helpful.....(with instructions and the setup of the tables.....I couldn't fathom that at all)
He said it was the rootschat footer on that page that was interfering with the loading and to ask the rootschat admin if they could remove it.......from a particular file.....which is in my other posting...
Does this make sense at all?

Hi Ken

Yes it does make sense. If you right click the page that your link points to and select View Source, it will display the HTML/JavaScript code.

Scroll all the way down to the bottom and the file should have a closing </html> tag but the rootschat footer has beed inserted below it. Virtually all HTML documents should end:

</body>
</html>

However, I don't think this is the most serious problem you have as the rootschat footer is displayed in the correct place. When I load the page using IE7 I get a yellow warning triangle at the bottom left hand side of the task bar and the message 'Done but with errors on page'. Double clicking the yellow triangle reveals the following error:

Line: 138
Char: 2
Error: 'null' is null or not an object

It seems that there is something wrong with your actual GEDCOM data rather than than with the page itself. If you were to go to line 138 of pedigree[1].htm it only refers to style not actual data. It could be that there is a strange bit of data in your original GEDCOM file that cannot be interpreted correctly. I guess you'll have to contact your TNG support people to see if my diagnosis is correct.
