Can anyone tell me When a person is born Chappel 1934 from goole born to an unmarried women. that by the time of her mariage 1956 she is down as Darragh her mothers married name whom married in 1938. Did they do change of name by depoll then. One can take it she would of produced some form of paperwork.

Was she adopted by her stepfather?

If not - if she was known as Darragh from 1938-1956 then she would have been entitled to marry as such
