For around 18 months now on my temporary internet files on Disk cleanup. Now using 168,394k of space.I have been unsure if i should delete them or not, because i wasn't sure if they were internet web addresses visited or not. However i have now opened 3 of 16 files, they all say the same.
Internet Explorer This page has an unspecified potential security flaw would you like to continue? (I presume that means deleting them) The last file is Type of file Data unknown application, created 29th Oct 2005. Oct/November was when the computer was cleaned out and reinstalled.I have a suspicion that they might be the download files used when reinstalling the P.c is it safe to delete them?

I thought I'd explained that I wasn't saying that CCleaner is incorporated into the Yahoo! toolbar, but that the toolbar is included in the install file of CCleaner. There is a difference.
As you say, there is only one version of CCleaner (free version), but it is available in 3 different builds.
Here is where to find the different builds on the CCleaner website, as I described earlier: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds.aspx
Here is the post from the official forum showing the changelog when the toolbar was first included (highlighted):
v1.27.260 - Added secure file deletion. - Added Windows HotFix Uninstaller cleaning. - Added optional IE toolbar. - Updated application icon. - Fixed large file size issue. - Fixed Firefox cookie error. - Restyled Startup program list. - Added cleaning for: Grisoft AVG 7.0, TUGZip, AntiVir Personal Edition, Google Toolbar 4.0 - Updated cleaning for: MSN Messenger, DVD Shrink, Spybot Search and Destroy, Adobe Photoshop CS2. - Updated translations: Hebrew, Romanian, French, German. - Fixed small font issue with symbolic languages. - Minor display fixes. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=4116
Here are further posts from the same forum regarding inclusion of the toolbar... http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=4054&hl=toolbar
...and here regarding the introduction of Basic and Slim builds of CCleaner (see post #2): http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=6243&hl=toolbar
I hope that this helps to clarify.

Another way of deleting temporary internet files is via the toolbar in Internet Explorer. Select Tools , then Delete Browsing History - this brings up a box with various options the top one being for temporary internet files - if you select that they will be deleted.
I actually use the "Delete All" option regularly - I'm quite happy to type in user name & password for sites such as this & prefer to remove "clutter" from the hard disk.
