Lucy Bates 1871 Census

Lately I have been asking myself - what ever happened to LUCY BATES???

Lucy was born in the December quarter of 1845 in Marsworth to parents Thomas Bates and Elizabeth nee Cartwright. 

She appears in the 1851 Census - Marsworth piece 1716 Folio 256 Sch 0093 - with her parents and 3 siblings.

She also appears in the 1861 Census - Marsworth Rg9/842 60 6 with her parents and 7 siblings.  At this point she is 16 and listed as a Straw Platter.

In 1871 she was no long living with her parents and siblings and is missing from the listing rg10/1390.  The eldest son James had married and moved Yorkshire and shortly after unmarried son Joseph moved to Australia.

The only Lucy Bates' I have come across are
Lucy Bates married september quarter 1884 Bicester
or
Lucy Bates married aylesbury september quarter 1898. 

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find Lucy?

Hi,

I see in 1861 she is living in the Berkhampstead registration district, I found this death which may be her,

Lucy Bates  Dec Q  1863  Berkhampstead  v.3a  p.235
