Hi Joe

I downloaded the PAF software and had a look for you.

You can record occupations and other stuff as Notes.  To add notes I found this guidance

On the Individual or Marriage screen, click [the button that looks like a pencil on a notepad]. Or on the Family View screen, Pedigree View screen, or the Individual View screen:

Select the individual or marriage on the screen.

From the Edit menu, select Notes.

Tip: If the individual already has notes, a small triangle appears in the upper-right corner of the name box.

If the Notes Selector screen appears, click the tag you want to use. If the Notes Selector screen does not appear, go to step 3.

Type your notes:

Type notes in much the same way as you would use a word processor. The program automatically wraps your text, so you do not need to press Enter unless you are ending a paragraph.

Unless you are using tagged notes, it is better to press Enter only once between each paragraph. Indented paragraphs and no blank lines look best in Ahnentafel books and modified register books.

If you want to print the note on reports, type an exclamation point as the first character of the paragraph.

To keep a note confidential, make sure the note begins on a new line and has a blank line before it. Then type ~ as its first character.

To save your notes, click Save.

Hope it helps

Best wishes
