Richard Groom1789/90
« on: Friday 06 April 07 19:13 BST (UK) »

I am researching the above Richard Grooms born circ 1789/90  and hoping some kind person can help me. The family appear to be fairly settled in the Wellington area of Shropshire. Who were his parents, did he have siblings, what type of work were the family involved with etc.? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks. Eric

There is only 1 entry on the IGI for a Richard Groom ch.7.1.1791 Market Drayton, father Thomas, no mothers name given but there is also this marriage of a
Thomas Groom to Hannah Furnival 19.2.1784 at Market Drayton.

Have you looked for them on the 41 census.  Huh

Patrish,
Many thanks for your promt reply , did you notice if he had any siblings?
Was his work listed at the time of marriage?
I have not checked the 1841 Census , I do not appear to have much success on the Census's , I' m still very much a new comer to family research. Once more very many thanks for your help. Eric.

Had quick look and strangely, of the half-dozen Grooms with a Father Thomas, no mother is shown - except for post 1800 births up to 1810 ish, when an Ann is shown ...

Oh, and a Thomas 1785, mother Hannah ...

Newfy,
Patrish,
Very many thanks for both your replies and help regarding the aboves parentage. There was a a number of Grooms in New Street, Wellington in the 1821 Census namely the following, which I'm unable to tye up, any idea's?     Ann Groom age 63 year old lodger.  William Groom aged 30 year old basket maker.   Elizaabeth Groom aged 27 year old. [no other detail given]   Maria Groom aged 21 year old lodger.
Could these perhaps be the brothers and sisters of Richard Groom1889/90 and maybe the older Ann Groom be the the mother of Richard Groom 1889/90 or maybe the sister of his father? Any clues , please?
